Yo this is Cool Hand Bob, and welcome to my new site BEAT CREATOR! I’ve been making tunes for a while now and for the longest time I would really struggle to get the right sound for the instrumental and the backing tracks.
Well now I have a few tricks up my sleeve I think it’s time to spill the beans and give you guys the heads up on some of best beat making trick I’ve learned.
You just need to get your head around a few simple programs to make great beats and there is even some you can use online without a fancy studio set up.

If you want to make drum beats online you should give sonic producer a go. It’s a bit like Fruity loops in that you can build up all your sounds on screen then tap the drum beat to make your track and even draw in some of the stuff if you want to.
The reason I like making drums online is that when I’m travelling I don’t like to lug around all my programming stuff. Obviously I can get a better result from the more pro gear but for a few bucks I like to just log in from an Internet cafe and get a nice few ideas down wherever I am in the world.

If you’re looking for a good drum beat program then you should check out ReDrum which is part of the Reason software package. If you have not used Reason for your tunes yet you need to give it a go now. It’s basically a very good sequencer and lets you build up a rack of modules and effects on the screen just like you would in a studio , but without all the wires!
Once you have Reason set up load up ReDrum and you will find one of the best drum beat programs on the market. It’s fast and easy to use and one of my secret weapons!

Hey guys, is you’re looking for a reggae wav I have a real treat for your today. I’ve been looking all over the web for some really hot reggae samples and I found the video below which is totally packed full of stuff you can start using tonight!
Just hook up you software to record from your computer speakers in wav format and you can then just import all the reggae sample into your tracks and start cutting them up.

Hey guys, I just found these breakbeat loops on Youtube and I had to post it on the blog because I’ve been nodding my head to it all morning. It’s a really nice HD video and the guy builds from nothing to make a really nice loop.
Also if you watch it all the way through you will see how to develop you beats from scratch.
Anyway, that’s enough of me talking, just scroll down and check out the break beat goodness of this tune. I was thinking that I might add some vocal and send it over to him.

The video below is a fruity loop tutorial for people who have just brought the program and are looking to get started for the very first time. The first thing you need to do is get it installed which I’m sure you can do, and then you’re ready to watch.
The guy who made the video takes you through everything nice and slow and it’s really easy to understand.
When I first started using FL I found it quite mind bending so make sure you use Fruity loops every day until your beats get really tight.

One of sounds for fruity loops that you need to check out is one called the Vocoder. It is a very advanced real time effect with Zero latency that kind of lets you turn your voice into a synth.
You must have herd this in a lot of rap record, it’s when the voice sounds really jumpy and weird.
The vocoder works by duplicating the route sound then sending it through the synth to ad the patch your after.
